Experience A Little Retail Therapy In Winnipeg!

From Itineraries Midwest Fall/ Winter 2009 Issue

Winnipeg offers large suburban shopping malls filled with your favorite things to one-of-a-kind shops and trendy boutiques lining the sidewalks in some of Winnipeg’s unique neighborhoods.

Day One

1 – 7pm
Arrive in Winnipeg and go directly to The Forks, one of Winnipeg’s most beloved and pre-eminent meeting spots. Located at the junction of the Assiniboine River where it meets the mighty Red, this nine-acre National Historic Site is home to 50 unique shops, restaurants and even a fresh vegetable market. The Forks Ambassadors will be there to meet and greet your group. Enjoy the day exploring the parks, promenades, gardens and sculptures alongside shops, restaurants and a multitude of attractions. Relax over dinner before calling it a day. Open from May to Thanksgiving.

7:00 pm
Check into the Travelodge Winnipeg East. They pride themselves on having Winnipeg’s finest Tropical Indoor Courtyard, and they love groups. So come on in and rest a while – won’t you?

Day Two

8 – 9:00 am
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel restaurant, and then head out for an adventure in shopping.

9 – 2:30 pm
Experience a little retail therapy in Winnipeg.  You have many choices, including the Exchange District, Corydon Avenue, Winnipeg Square  (the world’s largest ‘underground mall’) and many more. Today’s choice leads us to Polo Park Shopping Centre. Offering more than 200 stores and services to fill your day. Shop for gifts, fun, and essentials and be sure to indulge in a few of the goodies at one of their restaurants. You can even see a movie or go bowling while you’re here.

2:30 – 6:00 pm
Time to board the bus – to board the boat, to take a little cruise on The M.S. River Rouge, Canada’s largest river cruise ship! Open from May thru October, and invites you to relax while cruising down the Red and Assiniboine Rivers while enjoying the surrounding countryside.  Its upper and lower deck can accommodate up to 400 passengers. Choose from an afternoon sightseeing cruise or choose an early dinner cruise for your group.
